Beef and Lamb Patties (Keftedes)
Keftedes (meat patties) can be made many ways with different meats. I like to use a combination of beef and lamb, but you can use all beef, chicken, turkey, etc.
Ingredients
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 lb ground lamb
(Make it healthy – replace the beef and lamb with ground chicken or turkey breast. Just be sure to add 1/4 c olive oil to recipe, since they are much leaner meats)
2 diced garlic cloves
1 diced yellow onion
3 Slices of bread, ground into crumbs
1 whole egg
1/2 cup fresh chopped Italian parsley
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
1 tsp Greek oregano
1 tsp salt
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until blended well.
Form into palm-sized patties and line them on a plate.
these can be cooked a variety of ways:
OVEN: Turn oven to 400 and bake for 25 minutes.
STOVETOP: over medium heat, Cook the patties for approximately 4 minutes on each side, or until evenly browned
BBQ: I personally prefer to BBQ them over wood charcoal because it imparts a much better flavor than cooking them in the oven. If you don’t have charcoal, any BBQ will work!
Be sure not to overlook! I like to serve with fresh lemons and French fries! Enjoy!
