Lamb with Onions & Dried Mango Powder
1lb cubed leg of lamb or lamb shoulder
4 medium finely chopped onions
1 tsp chopped fresh ginger
1 tsp crushed garlic
3 fresh green chilies
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
1 pinch turmeric
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 tsp aamchoor (dried mango powder)
fresh cilantro leaves
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
Heat the oil in a deep pan or pot. Add the onions and cook until golden brown.
Reduce the heat and add the ginger, garlic, chili powder, turmeric, and salt vermox cena. Stir-fry the mixture for 5 minutes and then add 2 of the fresh chilies.
Add the meat to the pan and cook for 7 minutes.
Add water to the pan, cover, and cook over a low heat for 35-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the meat is tender, add the aamchoor, the remaining green chili, and fresh cilantro leaves. Stir fry for 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and serve with rice.
Notes:
This dish is best served with basmatti rice.
